Namaste UAE
The UAE and India share a deep-rooted friendship built on centuries-old cultural and economic ties. This relationship gained momentum with the establishment of the UAE Federation in 1971.
In 1972, the UAE appointed its first Ambassador to New Delhi, followed by India appointing its first Ambassador to the UAE in June 1973. Since then, both nations have worked diligently to strengthen their relations across various domains.
The two countries have forged robust partnerships in commerce, trade, and investment, which continue to grow and diversify. This collaboration is evolving into a strategic partnership, focusing on key sectors such as defense, energy, space, and information technology.
What began as a buyer-seller dynamic has now transformed into a comprehensive strategic partnership, reflecting the shared vision and commitment of both nations.
Economic Cooperation
As of 2022, bilateral trade between the UAE and India reached USD 85 billion, solidifying the UAE as India’s third-largest trading partner for the 2022-23 fiscal year. Conversely, India ranks as the UAE’s second-largest trading partner.
A significant milestone in their economic ties was achieved in February 2022 when India became the first country to sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE. Since the CEPA came into effect on 1 May 2022, bilateral trade has seen a substantial increase of approximately 15%.
In the energy sector, the UAE emerged as India’s fourth-largest supplier of crude oil during FY 2022-23, with crude oil exports to India amounting to USD 16.84 billion. This underscores the critical role of energy trade in strengthening the economic partnership between the two nations.
Investment
The Unified Industrial Identity fosters a “manufacturer mentality” within the UAE’s business community, encompassing citizens, residents, and foreign investors. This mindset is rooted in a culture of possibilities, empowering individuals to transform innovative ideas into tangible realities.
Manufacturers in the UAE are characterized by their adventurous spirit, willingness to think creatively, and readiness to capitalize on opportunities within the industrial sector. They leverage the UAE’s favorable investment climate and strategic geographical location to drive industrial growth and innovation. This initiative underscores the nation’s commitment to establishing a dynamic and globally competitive industrial ecosystem.
